Effective August 12, 2026 · Vineyard Baggage Co., LLC
This policy explains what information Vineyard Baggage Co., LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you use vineyardbaggage.org, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect only what we need to pick up your bags and ship them home, we never sell your information, and we don't run advertising trackers on this site.
1. Information We Collect
When you book a shipment: your name, email address, phone number, pickup address on Martha's Vineyard, destination address, bag details (category, type, declared weight and dimensions), and your chosen pickup date and time window.
Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number goes directly to Stripe — we never see or store it. If you authorize charges to your card on file at checkout (for re-weigh adjustments or fees described in our Terms of Service), Stripe stores the payment method and we store only Stripe's reference identifiers.
When you ask us to email you a quote: your email address and the quote details you entered.
At pickup: we photograph your bags to document their condition. These photos are part of your shipment record.
On your device: if you build a quote or start a booking, we save your in-progress trip details (destination ZIP, bag details, dates — never your name, address, or payment information) in your browser's local storage so you can pick it back up later. It expires automatically after 30 days and never leaves your device unless you complete a booking.
When you contact us: the contents of your emails, texts, or calls with us.
2. How We Use It
We use your information to: provide the service you booked (pickup, packing, labeling, carrier tender, and tracking); send transactional emails about your shipment (booking confirmation, day-before pickup reminder, shipped-with-tracking, and delivery confirmation); send you your quote and one follow-up reminder if you asked us to email it; ask for a review after delivery (by email, or by text only if you checked the SMS consent box at booking); charge your card on file only for the specific adjustments you authorized at checkout; respond to your questions; and meet our legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations.
We do not use your information for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
3. Who We Share It With
We share your information only with the service providers needed to get your bags home:
Carriers (USPS, UPS): your name, destination address, and phone number appear on shipping labels and in carrier systems — that's how your bags reach you.
Stripe: processes all payments and stores payment methods, under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS security standards.
Our website and data platform (Base44) and email provider (Google): host our site, booking records, and business email.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it (for example, a valid subpoena) or to protect our legal rights. That's the complete list — there are no data brokers, ad networks, or marketing partners.
4. Cookies, Tracking, and Do Not Track
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, or cross-site trackers. The only data stored in your browser is the saved-quote information described in Section 1, which stays on your device. Because we don't track visitors across sites, our site behaves the same whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.
If we ever add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy first and change this section to say exactly what was added.
5. How Long We Keep It
Booking and payment records are kept for as long as needed for tax, accounting, and legal purposes (generally seven years). Pickup photos are kept through the shipment's claim window and then for our records. Quote requests that never become bookings are periodically deleted. Saved-quote data in your browser expires on its own after 30 days.
6. Your Choices and Rights
Email us at vineyardbaggageco@gmail.com to ask what information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. We'll respond within 30 days. We may need to keep records the law requires us to retain (like completed transactions), and we'll tell you if that's the case.
Every marketing-adjacent message we send (like a review request) tells you how to opt out, and replying "stop" to any text from us ends texts immediately. Transactional messages about an active shipment (like your pickup reminder) are part of the service itself.
7. Security
Our site is served over HTTPS, payments are handled by Stripe under PCI-DSS standards, and access to booking records is limited to the people operating the business. No system is perfectly secure, but we deliberately collect as little as possible so there's less to protect.
8. Age Requirements and Children
You must be at least 18 years old to book a shipment, as stated in our Terms of Service. Beyond that, our service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
If our practices change, we'll update this page and change the effective date at the top. For meaningful changes affecting information we already hold, we'll notify affected customers by email.
